Look at Us...
Today was one of those rare, beautiful days where my work and my personal life came together in the best way.
I got to take my friend to work. And not in the “come check out my office” sense, because let’s be real, she works in much fancier offices than I do.
Today I got to sit in front of our team, fireside chat-style (comfy chairs, lapel mics etc.), and interview her. And honestly, I could not be prouder.
Here’s the thing about those important friendships that you have, when you’ve known someone for 20 years, you don’t really talk about work-work.
You talk about the people who get on your nerves, the ridiculous client emails, the random drama.
But today I got to see my friend fully in her element, doing her thing.
I mean, I already knew she was brilliant (obviously, she’s my friend), but seeing her in action? She truly is a force. Tenacious. Laser-focused, and just an absolute weapon when it comes to closing deals.
I always knew she was, but now it’s like, yep, fully confirmed. 2,000%.
The best part?
People kept telling me how amazing she was.
And as I think about all of the positive feedback, I was like... "Yeah, I know. I have had a front row seat to this for the last 20 years."
But still, hearing it from others just hit different.
There’s nothing quite like seeing someone you care about just own it in a whole new context.
Pride doesn’t even fully cover it.
You know that Paul Rudd meme where he’s like, "Look at us. Look at us. Who would’ve thought?"
That was 100% us today.
A few times, I caught myself stepping back and thinking,
Look at where we started. Look at where we are now. What even is this life?
Easily the highlight of my week.
I can't stop thinking...
"Why can’t I just work with my friends all the time? Like, why isn’t that a thing?"
I don’t know how I’m gonna make that happen (open to suggestions, universe), but it was so special. It is definitely going to stick with me for a while.
There’s just nothing better than seeing your people shine.
It fills me up.
I really hope that 2025 has more of that.
Here’s to more moments where you just step back and go,
"Look at us. Look at us."
